Cooling Towers

About Cooling Towers

A cooling tower is a specialized heat exchanger in which air and water are brought into direct contact with each other in order to reduce the water’s temperature. As this occurs, a small volume of water is evaporated, reducing the temperature of the water being circulated through the tower.  Counter flow towers are designed so that air flows vertically upward, counter to the flow of falling water in the fill.  Cooling tower parts may be further broken down into FRP casing, and internal components such as the fan, the packing fill, etc.

FRP casing

FRP was selected as the best structural material for cooling tower construction mainly due to its superior performance in sea water corrosive environment. From the economical point of view, though the construction cost FRP structure is a little higher, this can be easily balanced by less maintenance costs of FRP structure considering its high durability in hostile environments

Axial cooling fan

Our direct-drive axial fans are WingFan (made in Germany) with Aluminum Hub and Poly Amide blades perfectly balanced and coupled to a weather proof TEFC three-phase electric motor.  The fan frame is a U steel frame (Coated with FRP coating) to install it at its correct position and to avoid the risk of recirculation. The tip speed of the impeller is limited to keep the noise level within acceptable limits.

Drift eliminator

Cellular Drift Eliminators are specifically-designed to achieve maximum drift removal efficiency in counter flow tower applications by providing an upward flow path and discharge angle of 40-55° from horizontal (depending on installation angle) and molded-in drainage channels that direct the collected drift back to the wet section of the tower even when impacted by water spray.  The modules are constructed of a series of sinusoidal-shaped corrugated CTI STD-136 PVC sheets that are mechanically assembled to mating sinusoidal structural waves to form closed cells.

These cells force the drift droplets carried in the leaving airstream to make three distinct changes in direction. This disruption of the air flow creates centrifugal forces on the drift droplets, forcing them to be captured by inertial impaction and direct interception with the module walls and thereby removed from the airstream.

Packing fill

There are two types of packing available:

The PVC cooling tower film fills

is for use in package counter-flow towers, and PVC fill improves water distribution by splitting the water stream as it descends through the fill pack. The CF 1200 splits the water stream 10 times in a (300 mm) vertical path. High thermal performance (high KaV/L) and low pressure drop are simultaneously achieved through engineered flute/microstructure design and the highest manufacturing standards.

Rashing ring

The Rashing Ring has similar cylindrical dimensions but has two rows of windows with webs within the cylinder, which significantly increases the performance of the packing, in terms of through put, efficiency and pressure drop.  Rashing Ring packing is an economical and versatile industry standard with well-known performance characteristics.
  • Good capacity and low pressure drop
  • Higher liquid hold-up and residence time
  • Versatile standard packing
  • High mechanical strength

Nozzles

Cooling tower nozzles are designed to provide desired water distribution performance at low spray heights typical of factory assembled cooling towers. Cooling tower nozzle type have wide water spreading range due to its design which distributes water by its multi splash dishes with different three diameters, achieving the optimum drop size for all applications.

Water floater

Heavy duty floating valve, made of Copper, floating ball made of stainless steel, with long service life, and water level adjustable. (made in Italy) Floating valve with a variety of dimensions (such as ¾’’, 1’’, and 1½’’) which suitable for any cooling tower capacity.
